I have made 2 pocket patch satchels from Debbie's build a bag book. Both have turned out to have excess lining, unsure what I am doing wrong as I have followed the instructions and templates. Can anyone help please.

hi all HYSClubbers, im currently on with the 'mini miss messenger' bag, ive measured and cut all requirmets as stated in the book (half yard bags and purses) pg 55, then comes to follow instructions, no 2 states about how to do the pocket pieces etc?, only there is none in the pattern ??? TIA

Actual Size or 100%. Print the page with the 1inch square and check.

Hello, I think I've answered by own question here but I need to check. I am going to have a go at making the box top. My first item of clothing I'll have made in over 25 years. I'm looking to use jersey which I've not sewn with before. I need to check which needle I need to use. Am I right in thinking I need a ball point needle? Do they have a special name or is it just a ball point needle? I need to buy one first you see. Many thanks in advance

Can someone advise me about poplin weight in comparison to 100% cotton. Planning to make another bag and wonder if poplin might be better with the canvas which I love.

Poplin is 100% cotton, it has a finmer thread and closer weave than quilting cotton so has a lighter feel, fine to use with canvas but you may need to interface it.

Hi I have to cover a block of cushion foam with some of Debbies lovely fabric for our motorhome and wonder what you think is the best way to do this. Do I cut two pieces for the top and bottom and then narrow strips for the sides, one with a zip in? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks
