Make this pretty pinafore dress for your little one from ladies’ wide-leg trousers, and no pattern needed!
Are you trying to cut down on clothing and fabric waste, but are short on ideas of what to do with unwanted garments, bedsheets or curtains? This project takes a pair of ladies' trousers and gives them a new lease of life with a brand new outfit!

Click here to get your copy! Our pinafore was made for a 3-4 year old. To fit the pinafore to your own child, follow these measurements:Measure:
- the waistband length – this is the waist measurement
- the skirt length – this is from the waist to how long you want the skirt of the dress to be
- the bib length – this is from the waistband to the top of the chest
- the straps – measure from the top of the bib over one shoulder and down to the back waistband, on the opposite side of the body (as the straps are crossed over each other).
Note: Stitch with an accurate 1/2in (1.25cm) seam allowance.

You will need:
Equipment
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Tape measure
- Safety pin
- Iron
Materials
- Pair of adult ladies’ wide-leg trousers, or approx. 60 x 11in (152.5 x 28cm) of fabric – we used a pair of UK size 12 (US 10/EU 40) ladies’ trousers
- Two coordinating buttons
- Approx. 13in (33cm) length of 1in (2.5cm) wide elastic
- Safety pin or bodkin, for threading the elastic
