Easy Apple-Core Bowl | Photo Guide Sewing Project | Bonus PDF Download
Very easy |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
Made from simple repeating shapes, this elegant little bowl is fun to make and can be used for easy-access storage or as a serving dish, as in the photos.
This charming fabric bowl is made up from adapted apple-core shapes, pieced together at the corners and sewn to a round base. I’ve decorated the outer top with lace and the inner top with buttons, but if you love hand embroidery, a few flowers on the outside would look lovely!
The bowl is perfect for sewing notions, wrapped sweets, biscuits, potpourri or seasonal decorations, making it practical storage combined with country-style charm. Bread baskets made from fabric matching your tableware would be a lovely addition to a dinner table! The bowl can be made with two fat quarters of fabric, and I’ve used fusible craft fleece to give it a bit of sturdiness.Make it your own!
- Use different fabrics for each panel to create a patchwork-style version.
- Add braid, ribbons, lace and/or beads to suit your style.
- Close up the segments to make a taller, narrower container.
