This beginner-friendly bunting can be whipped up in minutes and will bring a touch of sunshine to your home or garden.
About the project
You all loved our Beach Hut Doorstop project so we're celebrating with another summery quick make – we can't wait to see what you create. We've made our beach hut bunting pennants in matching striped fabric, but you can recreate these designs with dotted, floral or paisley prints. I used these house templates which you can grab from my website. Don't forget you can get 10% off with your HYSC member discount. Note that the materials listed below are for making one pennant of the bunting.

This is a beginner-friendly “quick make,” and shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes to stitch!
Debbie's Top Tips
- Use various templates to give your beach huts added character – try squares to make windows and doors as well as hearts, birds, stars and more!
- If you don't have the shapes you need, you can make your own templates by cutting out shapes from a piece of paper.
- If you're using a rotary cutter, put all of the centre templates in the middle to protect your fingers, or draw around the template and cut it out.
- You can use whatever seam allowance you prefer, but just make sure to pick the same seam allowance for every pennant.
- Beach hut or house template
- Sewing machine
- Scissors
- Two pieces of 6in x 9in (15.25cm x 22.75cm) striped fabric
- Small pieces of plain fabric for applique shapes
- Bondaweb
- Binding or ribbon to hang
- Small button
