Quick Make: Christmas Tree Decoration
Very easy |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
Use up your fabric scraps to craft speedy Christmas tree ornaments with our easy-to-follow video tutorial.
About the project
It's Christmas! We love a speedy make, especially if it's as multipurpose as this one. Great for hanging on the tree, turning into a garland or festive bunting, and they make the perfect gift or stocking filler too. You could even pop them in a mini plant pot for a super sweet decoration. For this design you can use any fabrics, it doesn't just have to be festive. We made ours in a classic green and a navy and metallic design too. But hunt around your craft room for fabric scraps as this makes for a perfect stashbuster. Just remember that all of your fabric circles need to be twice the size of your foam circles to create a successful tree! What skill level is this sewing pattern?
This is a beginner-friendly “quick make,” and shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes to stitch!
Debbie's Top Tips
- You will be creating five circles of fabric – you can use a circle template or if you don't have one, instead use the inside of a ribbon reel or an egg cup.
- If you can, try to push your raw edges inside each fabric circle to create a neat finish.
- If you're not using fusible foam, then use spray adhesive to add your foam to your fabric.
- Add small sequins and beads to decorate the trees, simply thread them onto your needle or add them with a hot glue gun.
- Hand sewing needle
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Iron (if using fusuible)
- 3in, 2.5in, 2in, 1.5in, 1in circles of fusibile foam stabiliser
- 6in, 5in, 4in, 3in, 2in circles of fabric
- Embroidery thread and needle
- Thread
- Small stick
