A placket is an opening at the neck or sleeve of a garment, or in this case, a way of getting in and out of your skirt, while adding a design feature.
The placket will provide support and strength to the garment’s fastening, as the placket will consist of two layers of fabric as well as a layer of interfacing, which will then house the buttons and buttonholes.
Similarly to the fly zip, be aware that the placket will overlap in the front – the right placket will need to overlap the left one; you will need to add the placket to the skirt before adding the waistband finishes.
