Hello x I have recently become a full -time wheelchair user and I’m struggling to find skirts that fit me as I am sat down in the wheelchair as they are now far too long. I am still very new to sewing and have a sewing machine but still very unsure of to do basic sewing g tasks such as taking up a skirt- I am also new to HYSC and wanted to ask for any advice or useful videos on the HYSC about how to take up skirts. I have about 10 inches or thereabouts that need to come off thank you Julie x
Laura replied: 2 Apr 26 at 09:35
Oh I have so many questions about the shape of the skirt and the existing hem of the skirts etc as 10” is a lot to cut off without changing the style and cut of the skirt. I would consider taking the excess off the top of the skirt from the waist hem. If it is a style that would let you cut 7 1/2” down from the waistband and then use the excess 2 1/2” to fold over the raw edge and make yourself a channel for 1” elastic for your waistband that might be the best way to keep the existing bottom hem style. Perhaps try it with a skirt you don’t love too much as a practice go. Hope this helps.

Morning all, I’ve tried to pre-order Debbie’s new fabrics: Bluebell Hollow WOODS and GLADE (absolutely love them) however I’m not allowed to put them both in the basket so that I can pay. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Diane x

Hiya Barb, thank you, I was worried it was my lack of tech awareness. I’ll do exactly what you’ve suggested and e mail the team now. Diane

HYSC replied: 29 Mar 26 at 18:11
Hello Sally, thanks for your comment. Which owl project are you referring to? Debbie's projects can be remade, but if it's our guest designer owl pillow project then we'll need to double check for you. Thanks!

Beginner and elderly. Wanted to make the overnight bag. 1 template to print off which I have done. The 1 inch square is correct on my copy but the overnight bag ends are not the size stated. Do I add the additional amount around the curve and down the side? Any help appreciated. Thanks so much.
Jaysew replied: 28 Mar 26 at 15:15
Thank you again Laura, Will have another go and get my printer checked. Very kind of you to try it out for me. Much appreciated. Jaysew.

what's the best fabric to use with cork
Laura replied: 26 Mar 26 at 17:37
I have used tapestry, canvas and waxed cotton and they have worked great as they are about the same weight as the cork but you could interface cotton etc and add to cork as well.

Don't know for sure, but seem to remember there was an interview with Stuart Hillard some time ago - probably last year or might have been longer. Have looked at meet the makers and magazine covers but can't see it. Am I imagining this?
Polkadot replied: 28 Mar 26 at 12:05
Thank you, I couldn't find anything either. Must be my imagination!

Don't seem to be able get any of the benefits from joining the clubs is it because I live in the USA?
Polkadot replied: 24 Mar 26 at 22:36
As well as Debbies books, I can see you do get the 30% off Search Press books as there is a USA and Aus site linked as well. So maybe read the blog for the benefits, it appears to be based on membership and not the country you reside in. Hope that helps.
