Hi everyone. I am not on fb and the messages on you tube never come through. How do I get the fabric requirements for sew along Saturday.
Sue replied: 27 Jan 23 at 08:37
I don?t seem to get anything on the community section, I use an iPad and believe this is the reason. I have found the details now in the blog area thanks.

Hi I've just stated sewing again after my accident which has left me with severe nerve damage in my left hand. I'm finding it really difficult and frustrating and was wondering if anyone else out there who is the same position. Any useful tips? Already cut my finger on a pin and I only realised when I saw the blood! So definitely using clips instead of pins ????
Laura replied: 26 Jan 23 at 10:40
Sorry to hear this Kaz?I imagine it is very frustrating. Are you able to use your left hand for sewing, holding, cutting etc. I wondered whether the ruler holder https://www.debbieshoresewing.com/shop/books-haberdashery/sewing-tools/milward-rule-handle-white/ would help and keep you safe when cutting fabrics etc.

Hi everyone. For those making Maddie I?m going to have a practice of doing Maddies face. In the book it says to use one strand of floss/thread but looking at the photos it looks like two strands! Do you know which is right - I?m guessing it?s all down to personal preference at the end of the day!
Megan replied: 23 Jan 23 at 20:03
I used 1 and it was quite thin and took a while to do so definitly use more

Has anyone put feet on the overnight bag?
Alanna replied: 26 Jan 23 at 19:49
Thanks Bev. Did you need to put anything else to the base to firm it up so it doesn?t sag between the feet? I?m already using firm fleece

Am trying to sew the overnight bag but am struggling to sew the tabs on the end of my zip. The fabric is thick & my machine isn?t sewing, what can I do?
Sue replied: 22 Jan 23 at 16:07

Hiya, Debbie mentioned the Eden tree cushion was on as a download, is this on the DS website or have I misheard? I can?t find it. Or maybe it?s sold as a pack? Thanks, Clare
Laura replied: 21 Jan 23 at 18:38
I think she said that they are looking to get posted as a download?takes a while to get it prepared as an A4 print out.

Hi everyone, just watched the live on catch up, and just wanted to say that I used the light Peach linen for Maddie and it worked well. Frayed a bit so might overlock the pieces when I do Robin.

You could take a look at the video for Rosie the reindeer from November 2021 as the techniques for the gusset and legs etc are very similar.

Does anyone know why we pull the bobbin thread through when free motion quilting? Is it to tie it in a knot? Also when instructions say sub-cut does that mean just cut? Thank you.
Laura replied: 19 Jan 23 at 10:07
There are several you tube videos on dealing with starting and ending threads when doing free motion embroidery. You pull through the bobbin thread and tie a knot slightly away from your last stitch. Then using a needle you take the two strands of thread back through the end of the last stitch and through the batting but not through the backing fabric. Bring the needle back up again and gently pull the knot through the fabric and then snip the ends so they disappear. Sub cut is cutting from a material that you have already cut or prepared ?there are short videos on You Tube for this as well..just put quilting sub cut in the search engine. Hope this helps.
