Don?t know if I?ve gone wrong but my untrimmed squares are 12 inch square not 12.5 inches

That doesn?t matter, as long as they are all 12? at the end x

Hi there, could anyone help clarify something for me. I have bought the Sew Maddie book and have read through all the instructions for making Maddie up. I understand every part but attaching the arms and legs to the body. As I understand the instructions, the limbs are just stitched to the outside of the body. Why aren't they inserted into the seam allowances.

Hello, if I was to use a knit fabric for this skirt, would you need to cut it on the bias? Thank you ????

I?ve just started making the Polar bear but am failing at the first hurdle! I?ve put my walking foot on but when I?m sewing the ears inside the cut for the head, stitches are skipping for the whole of the extra thickness . I?ve resorted to hand sewing but that defeats the object as far as Im concerned. Any suggestions please?
Julie replied: 16 Jan 23 at 16:26
Not made the polar bear yet but when I was making a fleece hat I had the same trouble. As well as rethreading changing needle etc I switch my machine off and back on again (Brother NV1300) and that resolved it.

I'm going to make the October wheel chair bag could I use wadding with a spray glue instead of the single glued foam? Just keep price down or is bosal better?
Laura replied: 10 Jan 23 at 16:22
Debbie does a firm fleece that would be suitable for this bag https://www.debbieshoresewing.com/shop/fabric/pre-cut-packs/firm-fleece-sew-in-pre-cut-0-5m-piece/ it is a bit cheaper than the Bosal. It is non adhesive so you will need to use a spray glue to apply to your fabric. Debbie used this fleece for the Overnight Bag (July 2022 project) so you might want to view that video to see how it is applied before you decide what to use. Hope this is helpful.

I?m new to quilting and found when I had finished my melon patch it doesn?t measure 12 1/2 inches. I don?t think I pulled it tight enough when adding the melons. How do I over come this.
Laura replied: 9 Jan 23 at 09:32
What does your block measure? The 6 1/2 ? squares that you start with as your base should give you a 12 1/2 ? square when joined with a 1/4? seam allowance.

Hello! I?m new, and I?m having a go at making my first quilt using the block a month. Do I make all the blocks each month and then put them on the wadding/sandwich that with the backing when they are all done or do I put each square on it?s own wadding, quilt it, then join them together and finish with the backing at the end? Thank you!
Laura replied: 9 Jan 23 at 09:25
We are just completing the blocks at present and will start the quilting and joining in April when we have some blocks completed to join together.
