Hello everyone, does anyone know how to redeem a gift voucher on the Debbie Shaw sewing site when purchasing fabric? I have already emailed enquiries@debbieshore 3 days ago but no reply so far.
Cathy replied: 3 Jul 22 at 17:09
Thank you for your replies, I have tried your suggestion, Barbara but sadly it didnt work. I checked that I sent it to the correct eamil address Megan and yes it was the correct one, I think it must have been lost in the big black hole!! lol I emailed Debbie again and she has been super prompt in sorting it out. She sent two new voucher codes.

Good evening, I have been asked to alter a pair of jogging bottoms, but not sure what stitch to use. They are 100 percent polyester. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kate xx
Alice replied: 30 Jun 22 at 11:53
Hi Kate, it's quite tricky to answer without knowing a little more about your jogging bottoms. If you are taking up the length, I'd recommend cutting off whatever length you need to lose (remembering to leave some for hems) and using your offcuts as practice to check which stitch works best.

I'm looking forward to making the duffel bag coming out in July. How much fabric does it require please?
Alice replied: 27 Jun 22 at 00:26
Thanks Laura. I sadly missed the live but I've watched it back and you're right! Now I can get my fabrics ready to go as soon as it comes out. It's at 31:35 in the youtube if anyone else is looking for it.

Could anyone give some advice on shirring? A week or so ago a lady asked the question on a FB live about how to tighten it up. My question is the opposite. I made a top which had a shirred waistband and sleeve cuffs. The sleeves are fine but the waistband is a bit snug. Apart from not steaming it afterwards does anyone have any tips on how to make the shirring looser please?
Laura replied: 27 Jun 22 at 09:49
It might loosen if you remove a few rows of the shirring on the waistband. I think I would remove alternate rows one at a time and try it on each time to see if the fit is improving until it fits. If it doesn?t fit doing this then perhaps add a panel of the fabric to each side to provide more width and shirr again or leave a panel at each side of your original top unsheered to provide width. Hope this helps.

Hello, I have bought some paper hexagons for English paper piecing for while I?m on holiday. They are 2 inch along the sides, how big do I need to cut the fabric hexagons to fit over them? Thanks!
Laura replied: 22 Jun 22 at 20:04
The material needs to be cut 1/4? bigger than the paper template.....there is a good tips topic on English Paper Piecing on here if you have not seen it already.

Hello all, I need help please. I would like to make the weekender bag. I have printed off the templates but there is no 'test' square to see if the scale is correct. I am also confused about some of the templates. Bag base and bag feet I am assuming are part 1&2 and is joined at the narrow end as they fit, but the longer end says to 'join pattern here' but there is a difference in size?, I would say that the one with the feet position is slightly smaller than the bag base.. I cannot see if there is a picture of the pattern layout. I have used the 'build a bag' books and followed tutorials on you tube but I like the look of this bag and trying out the new skills. xxx
