I've just cut out the made to measure skirt. I want to line it, should I cut out the lining 2 and half inches down from the top or would it be better with a waist band?
Alice replied: 7 Oct 21 at 17:59
Thank you Debbie, that's what I decided to do, otherwise I would have had a ridge over my (too big) tummy.

Hi, I've just finished the Sewing Room Holder and want to upload some pictures I can't find the project to upload the pictures. I m not a member of Facebook so unable to upload the pictures on Debbies page. Please could you advise me where I can upload the pictures of my finished project. Many thanks Lorraine
HYSC replied: 4 Oct 21 at 08:57
Hi Lorraine, As there isn't a project to upload against on the website, the best thing to do is email the photos to us via projects@halfyardsewingclub.com and we might put them in the newsletter/on the Facebook page (we get quite a lot of photos, so we can't guarantee it!) or otherwise post them in here as you have done! :) Best Claire, HYSC

Would it be possible to include the QR Video code with each new project - I have just downloaded the Maddie Witch Outfit instructions but the QR code is not included. I know I can access the video without the code at the moment but it would save time later having to add it. Sorry if this is a silly question! Thank you.

Ahhh yeah that makes sense, thank you for the explanation, I won't be going anywhere either I love the club and projects.

Would the cardboard box that cereal comes in be OK to use for the exploding box project? Thinking it will be easier to cut than corrugated card
Megan replied: 29 Sep 21 at 20:12
May be a bit thin so I would put more than one layer on top of each other up to you though

hi Debbie Just a thought but please could you do a master class on different size sewing machine needles either on a Wednesday or Saturday or on your website please also could you explain which fabrics go with which needles because I think I just use a general size for everything thank you Helene
Shiralee replied: 28 Sep 21 at 10:25
Yes great idea. Also perhaps a technique chat once a month for us newbies at sewing. Like different quilting stitches, tips etc Debbie has done chats about different machine feet and how to clean your machine. They were really helpful.

Hi everyone I was watching a sewing channel this morning and something was advised to get if your sewing with metallic thread you may need a special sewing machine needle, my Questions are 1) what is a metallic thread needle 2) what size are metallic needles 3) what is the difference between that and a normal needle thank you Helene
Debbie replied: 28 Sep 21 at 13:00
Metallic needles usually have a coating on the inside of the eye to help prevent friction which can create heat and weaken the thread. Technical stuff!

I am trying to sew using a twin needle on my janome machine but the 2 threads are getting tangled together so one of them keeps breaking. Any suggestions how to overcome this would be great as I am finding it very frustrating.
Debbie replied: 28 Sep 21 at 13:01
Where are they tangling? Could you separate the threads at the spools, maybe put one in a cup at the side of your machine...
