Hello everyone. Does anyone know of a good oven glove tutorial? I have bought the thermal bosal to go with it too. Debbie kindly sent me 2 packs when I only ordered 1 so thanks Debbie. But now I need more ideas of what I could use it for too please. Any suggestions would be helpful thanks in advance

Hello. Can you advise how long a strap/ handles for across the body bag? Thank you.
Debbie replied: 11 Jul 21 at 06:30
I think 40" is a good length for a cross body bag, but yto slinging your tape measure over your shoulder to see whats rtight for you!

Does anyone know of a neater way of finishing top stitching other than back-tacking? My machine doesn't have reinforcement stitching on a straight stitch. Back-tacking is particularly untidy on top stitching around the opening of a bag where the lining, and therefore the yarn used, is a different colour to the main fabric. Thank you.

Thank you Pat. Will try that on the bag I am making at present.

I've just bought some perfect pairs fabrics, does anyone know if the half metre fabrics will be enough to make a tote bag from the Build a Bag Book?
Debbie replied: 11 Jul 21 at 06:31
Should be, the fabric requirements for each project are in the book...

Hello, I treated myself to some new sandals this morning and, of course, I now need a bag to match. The sandals are navy and tan - sounds naff but they're lovely and sooooooo comfy - that's the important bit for me! OK, so, I want a smallish crossbody bag and I have some navy blue cotton light weight canvas and some natural coloured cork fabric which I bought from Debbie Shore shop a few months ago. My idea is to make the bag in the two fabrics joined horizontally but would I be best to have the canvas at the base or the cork? bearing in mind that I want to slightly box the bottom out a bit. and also can I make the strap from cork as I would have to join the canvas as there's not quite enough to make the strap in one piece. Sorry, this is such a big ask, but I know you lovely people do have a solution for most projects. Stay safe everyone and happy sewing.

Many thanks to everyone who has offered advice on sewing with cork. I now have a cross body bag made from natural coloured cork and dark navy blue.

Bored with the euros .... no material .... it?s amazing what you can make out of a skirt. My auntie passed away and I made this bag from One of her skirts using Debbie shores Elizabeth bag pattern ????

Hello everyone. Can anyone help please. When I sew my fabric keeps gathering. I have tried re threading and I'm using a gutter man sew all I don't know what's wrong
Megan replied: 7 Jul 21 at 07:16
Thanks both. I didn't want to adjust the tension until I heard the suggestions because I remembered that dirty that Debbie made about Tensions. Haha
